The city Oshawa is located in Southern Ontario, Canada on the shore of Lake Ontario. Oshawa is located roughly 60 kilometers east of Downtown Toronto on the eastern side of the Golden Horseshoe. It's the largest municipality in the Regional Municipality of Durham. The name Oshawa comes from the Ojibwa term aazhaway, the meaning is "the crossing place" or just "(a)cross".

Oshawa’s motto's have been,, "The City in Motion", and "The City that Motivates Canada". General motors has been the backbone to the city. Originaly the McLaughlin Carriage Company. You may notice the Parkwood Estate. Parkwood Estate is the home of the founder of  McLaughlin Carriage Company, It's a National Historic Site of Canada, and a backdrop favored by many famous movies such as Billy Madison, Chicago, and X-Men.

Oshawa has come a long way with three post-secondary institutions, such as Durham College, Trent University Durham,  University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Lakeridge Health and Education Research Network (LHEARN Centre), Lakeridge Health Oshawa, and the Oshawa Clinic. Oshawa has the biggest, multi-specialty medical group practice in Canada. In 2016, Oshawa was the sixth best place in Canada to find full-time employment based on data from StatsCan, which is not bad for a small city when you put it into perspective.
